We are looking for a talented VFX Artist with a great team spirit and good technical knowledge to become a part of our creative gang, to produce and deliver a wide range of high-quality visual effects through all stages of the production process and work alongside our team on an unannounced 3D animated series.  

The VFX Artist will be a member of the Assets department, responsible for the simulation of non-key framed animation happening within the series. The candidate will be responsible for bringing the animation and film to life through character, environment, and UI effects. The candidate will bring a strong sense of motion and timing, as well as a proven ability to create highly performant, visually appealing effects. You’ll blow stuff up and make it sparkle, all while keeping an eye on the effects pipeline and best practices.

Daily responsibilities:  

  • Conceptualizes, designs, creates, and optimizes stunning visual effects (modelling, texturing, animating, lighting, shaders, etc) by using available tools in a real-time engine
  • Works with the creative and production team to define a consistent style for VFX and to ensure the quality of the assets for all aspects of the project
  • Ensures that VFX assets are built efficiently and within the given deadlines
  • Prepares assets for export 
  • Provides creative and innovative solutions to technical art problems and/or restrictions
  • Helps in developing tools & refining pipelines for the art production process
  • Takes direction and feedback from composite leads and VFX supervisors
  • Collaborates effectively with artists and animators to iterate, polish, and deliver projects
  • Optimizes VFX effects to fit design and technical constraints
  • Maintains and adheres to a consistent art style as required by creative director or project manager
  • Provides creative and technical assistance
  • Develops, updates, and optimizes workflows and tool chains
  • Manages edits along with the editorial department
  • Has a methodical and thorough approach to work
  • Good understanding of photography and film
  • Prioritizes workflows and identifies the right order in which to complete tasks
  • Understands and follows production guidelines; solves design and/or effect challenges for key visual effects shots
  • Maintains the production pipeline and meets deadlines
  • Provides timely corrections at the request of production 

Qualifications and skills:  

  • 2+ of experience in a professional environment, or 4 years of work experience in similar job positions. Degree in Film or related field is an asset.
  • Art portfolio related to the references above
  • *Degree and work experience requirements may be waived if candidates can show exceptional skills.
  • Ability to create and implement high quality VFX
  • Understanding of FX workflows and tools with the ability to modify and improve them
  • Strong visual awareness and artistic skills
  • Excellent knowledge of 3D animation software such as Houdini, Maya, 3Ds Max, Cinema 4D
  • Excellent knowledge of VFX compositing software such as Nuke, Fusion and After Effects
  • An eye for details, good sense of timing, and thorough understanding of techniques and technologies relating to physical simulation in computer graphics
  • A solid understanding of the compositing process
  • Seamless integration of live action, miniature, and CGI sources
  • Photographic skills, including an understanding of depth of field, shutter speed, aperture, composition and framing
  • The ability to interpret feedback and use your artistic eye to make improvements
  • Skill in match moving, modelling, texturing, lighting, prep, roto and basic comp
  • A good eye for composition, color, light and shadow
  • Proficiency with 3D graphics, physics, ribbons, shaders, and post process effects
  • Cooperating effectively with artists and interacting with other departments in the company
  • It is necessary to adapt to work in larger teams and advanced project management
  • High attention to details 
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a high-intensity environment, team-oriented and cooperative
  • Basic written and verbal skills in English
